2008 District Strategic Plan: Planning with Appreciative Inquiry

How do we know we are in touch with the needs of our community?  To answer that question, in 2007-08 the Board of Education and district staff began a year long discussion with the community about education and the direction of the school district.  Using the Appreciative Inquiry method, we invited teachers, staff, students, business people, municipal officials, seniors, and parents to talk together about what’s working well in our schools, what an ideal school district would be five years from now, and what priorities we would need to get there.

These discussions formed the basis for the Board of Education’s newly defined district vision and mission statements as stated on the right, and provided themes for planning the district’s future.  This work  will serve as a compass for all those committed to shaping the future for students of School District 69.
