Trustee Profiles

	Eve Flynn - Board Chair I am presently in my 3rd term as the elected trustee for Electoral Area E (Nanoose Bay) and my third year as Board Chair. My husband Shawn and I have two children Kate and Max who have both graduated from Ballenas Secondary School having completed their whole education here in SD 69 Qualicum. I became involved as a Trustee because I value the role of public education in our communities and hope to contribute towards maintaining the high quality public education system we have in British Columbia and, more particularly , in the Parksville/Qualicum area.
	Jane Williams - Vice Chair I am now in my 3rd term as one of the two elected trustees for Electoral Area G (Parksville, Qualicum Beach) and Area E (Regional District of Powell River) and my third year as Vice Chair of the Board. I became a Trustee back in my old School District (84) because I felt that my small community wasn't being represented properly at the board table. When I moved to School District 69 , I ran again in 2002 because I believe in the public education system and I feel that locally elected trustees have a very important role in ensuring that all students succeed. One of my goals is to continue to advocate strongly for increased (and sufficient) funding.
	Trustee Bruce Cownden I am serving my first term as one of the two elected trustees for Electoral Area G (Parksville, Qualicum Beach) and Area E (Regional District of Powell River).
	Trustee Inez Hutchison I have been a trustee for 12 years and am the elected trustee for Area H (Bowser/Qualicum Bay). I believe in public education, as well as locally elected school boards. Sitting on district committees has enhanced my relationships with members of the public and district staff. I have always been a helper and take part in community events. Being a trustee has enabled me to be involved in what is important to me. The students who are in our education system will be the next trustees, the next generation of helpers, and the next government. I am proud to be helping and guiding this process. I will continue to work with my fellow trustees at both local and provincial levels to support all policies and programs that affect the educational needs of all learners.
	Trustee Bill Preston I have been a trustee for 5 years and am the elected trustee for Area F (Coombs/Errington). I love our District's motto "Learning for a Lifetime'. I believe that our schools should be 'centres for learning' for people of all ages throughout the year. I am excited about School District 69's direction to enhance Career Education opportunities for our students. I look forward to continuing to raise awareness and celebrate our many successful programs and the outstanding work of our staff, students, parents and community partners.
