When applying for employment as Spare Bus Driver, Temporary Custodian, Spare Education Assistant or Spare Clerical all information requested on the application form must be completed, and submitted with a covering letter and proof of all qualifications. Required qualifications are as follows:
SPARE BUS DRIVERS:

Grade 10 or equivalent.
-
Valid Class 2 BC driver's license with an Air Endorsement.

Successful completion of the BC School Bus Drivers Training Certificate program.

Valid Fuelling of Propane Motor Fuel Tank Certificate.
-
Knowledge of the majority of routes and stops and familiar with procedures in order to perform relief duties.

Be familiar with and have a working knowledge of Motor Vehicle Act regulations, School Board Policies, National Safety Code, and devensive driving techniques.

Good interpersonal and oral and written skills

Valid Basic or Emergency First Aid certificate (one day course).
TEMPORARY CUSTODIANS:
-
Grade 10 or equivalent.

Successful completion of a Certified Building Service Worker Course
(minimum 40 hours instruction).

Six months work experience in an institutional or contract cleaning operation.
-
Demonstrated ability to perform and learn manual tasks.
-
Ability to work independently.
-
Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff and public.
SPARE EDUCATION ASSISTANTS:
- High school graduation or certificate equivalent.
- Related course work or diploma and/or successful experience working with students with special needs in a school environment.
- Ability to assist secondary students with academic courses.
- Ability to follow directions, be flexible, communicate effectively and work as a member of the school team.
- Ability to work effectively with students and staff.
- Valid Basic or Emergency First Aid Certificate (one day course).
SPARE CLERICAL:
- High school graduation or certificate equivalent.
- A diploma in office administration or related course work, or a minimum of six months experience performing similar duties.
- Competence using current district word processing software to an intermediate level and the current district spreadsheet software to an introductory level as demonstrated by successful completion of appropriate courses at a recognized institution.
- Keyboarding speed of 50 cwpm.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, follow oral instructions, and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Good interpersonal skills.
