​On August 10, the Ministry of Education announced new funding to "make transportation more affordable and accessible for B.C. families".

The ongoing funding is intended to be used for improving services, improving access, boosting student safety, funding of existing transportation services and investing the saving in enhanced student services.

Further to the Ministry's announcement, at its August 30^th Regular Board Meeting, the Board of Education of School District No. 69 (Qualicum) approved the elimination of transportation fees for eligible riders, effective immediately.  All riders must still register and be issued a bus pass.

Refunds will be provided to those families which have already paid fees for eligible riders for the 2016/17 school year.  Refund cheques will be available to the original payee for pick up at the Board Office after September 15^th.  Cheques not picked up by September 22^nd will be mailed.

The registration process for School Bus Transportation is otherwise unchanged.
