School District 69's First Nations program enriches the educational opportunities for all students.
The focus of our program is to enhance each First Nations student's understanding of their heritage, their sense of belonging, and the personal belief that they can be successful in BC's public education system.
Our program is intended to embrace all students, school staff, and community members so that we can all gain further understanding, sensitivity, and respect for the Coastal People, their teachings and for each other.
Each school in the district is assigned a Home-School Liaison Worker who has a broad understanding of First Nations culture and experience working with First Nations learners. These Home-School Liaison Workers work within the school on regular classroom activities and/or special cultural assignments.
If you have any Aboriginal ancestry which includes Status, Non-Status, Metis or Inuit and have any concerns or questions about your son/daughter's educational needs, access to community services, or the tutoring program for First Nations students, please contact the First Nations Home-School Liaison Worker at your child's school.
