Kindergarten Registration

Children who become five years old on or before December 31st may enter Kindergarten during that year. Parents or guardians must present their child's birth certificate to the school when registering their child..

Parents of students eligible to enter Kindergarten may register their child in the Early French Immersion Program at Parksville Elementary School. All Kindergarten-aged children in District 69 are eligible to enter. For more information, please contact Parksville Elementary School at 248-5778.

New Students to Our District

We are pleased to welcome you to our school district!  While we will do our best, the district cannot guarantee that new students registering after June 1st the previous year will be accommodated at their neighbourhood school. Students may be moved to another school up to and including the last day in September if space availability at their neighbourhood school is a problem. This will occur only if absolutely necessary, and will be based on the order in which registrations are received (last in, first moved).

Should this situation arise, students will be moved to the closest school available, and the school district will be responsible for transportation.

Students from another school district entering Grade 1 and up will be asked to provide their report card from the previous year when registering.

Please refer to the Checklist/Information for Student Registration for important registration information.

Students with Medical Problems (Alerts)

Please note it is the responsibility of parents / guardians to make the child's school aware of any life threatening medical problems your child may have. This includes any change in condition for those students already on our medical alert file.

Parents are to provide medication in its original container clearly marked with the student's name. Please check the expiration date of the medication. If the medication requires administration (i.e. injection) it is important that those charged with the procedure have the proper training. Please call the Health Unit at 248-2044 for assistance.

School catchment areas have been established to ensure that each school has the capacity to accommodate the anticipated enrollment of students in its catchment area.  School catchment areas have been determined after due consideration of all relevant factors, including the accommodation available in the schools, the accessibility of the schools to students, and the safety of students going to and from school.

The School Locator tool is a convenient way to help you determine the catchment area school(s) for your street address.  Detailed information is provided, including grade configuration, principal's name, telephone number, and address.  Please note that in the case of errors, discrepancies, and interpretation, the Board of Education for School District 69 (Qualicum) shall have final authority in all matters relating to School District 69 boundaries.  If you have any questions, please contact the School Board Office at 250-248-4241.

Refer to the School Locator and enter your residence to determine your school catchment area.

Cross Boundary Attendance - Student Transfers
