What is Storybook Village?
Imagine this….an entire child-size village for kids to play in, with a post office, firehall, and other buildings, connected by roadways pedal cars, trikes and scooters, and including a fanciful garden for growing vegetables and flowers. This is Storybook Village, BLT’s newest project, which is located in the heart of Qualicum Beach, on the grounds of Qualicum Beach Elementary School.

MunchkinSHIRE
Store, gas station, fire hall, bank, hospital, post office, theatre, schoolhouse. Child-size structures built for imaginative play.

The Roundabout
Roadways with road signs and stop/go lights. Good for riding pedal cars and pedal trikes, as well as roadways that can be used for bike and scooter rodeos. |

Alphabet Garden
Planter boxes in alphabet shapes, grown and nurtured by community groups and businesses and individuals. Food and vegetables will be grown and donated or used for community.

Who uses Storybook Village?
Children and families – children come to role-play, and explore the world around them…from their own sized buildings and roadways. Can you imagine the fun?
Community - bike and scooter rodeos, therapy outings, physical play, training sessions; Storybook Village can be used by community partners for a wide variety of purposes.
Everyone – Storybook Village is the perfect place to meet friends and family. Work in the garden alongside seniors, youth and children, stroll along the roadways for an outing, grab a coffee and join up for a play session, or just meet up for a good conversation in the garden.
What if it's raining?
Children love to play in the rain; and it's a wonderful experience for their senses! Come for a walk in the rain anytime. If Storybook Village programming is on, we'll have the buildings open but the vehicles may stay parked, as they are susceptible to water damage. If it's extremely cold and rainy nobody will want to come out to play; and we may cancel. If that happens, we'll post updates here on the website, and on Twitter (@goosetrx) and Facebook (BLT Oceanside).
