Mandatory Grad and Parent meeting

  • Announcements
    • Report cards were issued last week – if you don't have them yet from your student, ask them or email Trish for a copy
    • Reminder – there are no provincial assessments this year for grads
    • CLC – Career Life Connection
      • Requirement for all grads to complete in order to graduate
      • Attendance is mandatory weekly on Fridays
  • Ballenas Website
    • For any Graduation information, click on the "graduation" tab for more information
    • Grad transitions work is due on January 10, 2020 – this deadline is FAST approaching
    • Check the website for all grad timelines
  • Intros of the Parents Grad Executive Council

Grad Executive Council – Kim and Deb

Kim reviewed the following info:

  • Grad Fees - $100 + $100 (at this time if we get enough fundraising completed)
  • Reviewed budget and revenue from last year (see attachment)
  • Reinforced we need to fundraise $25000 this year for the Grad and Prom events – we need parents to help
  • 2 fundraisers already completed this year – we could have made WAY more money here. We need parents support going forward
    • Poinsettias – pickup on Thursday November 28th – 3pm
      • 24 families participated this year
    • Cheese – date to be communicated        
      • 19 families participated this year
  • Upcoming fundraisers
    • Grads are doing a bottle sort this Saturday at Rathtrevor Beach – please have any grads join and help out
    • January 4th – Bottle drive at the school, meat draws at the French Creek Pub dates TBA, activity book (spring), March 7th – Adult Dance, April 18th Grad Fashion Show
    • When purchasing any corsages and boutonnieres for grads, order through Thrifty Foods as they will give the grad committee back 50% of the cost in the form of gift cards so we can purchase snacks for the Prom/Grad event
    • Sponsorships letters have been done up for cash donations – parents, please come see Brie for the letters if you can support or know companies who can support the grad
