CEAP students use a computer, from a distance, to access to the internet to work with their online teacher to achieve grade level learning outcomes. BC Ministry of Education public school teachers guide and assess student’s progress to provide a quality education program from a distance.

Which kind of learners do best in online learning?

That all depends…Younger children require supervision and assistance on a day-to-day basis by their parents, who act as the “home teacher”, in regular communication with the CEAP teacher. Older students are most successful when they have either developed a good degree of independence and self-motivation towards learning, or when they are also in a supported environment, at home or in their home school

How is online learning organized for K to 12 and Adult learners?

Students in Grades Kindergarten to 9 are required to enroll full-time in online programs, where they participate in all subjects at the online school. Secondary and Adult learners can enroll full-time or for single grades 10 to 12courses.

Does it cost anything to enroll at CEAP?

CEAP, as an accredited public school, is free for all BC residents. Refundable security deposits are required, however, for the use of some learning resources

Do all students need to work at the same pace?

Our personalized approach to learning provides control, flexibility and the opportunity for students to work at their own pace, according to individual learning styles. As the CEAP learning experience is built around the student’s needs, timetable and goals, CEAP students frequently find that they are able to perform better in the our environment.

My child requires flexibility, is this possible in the online environment?

Increasingly, parents and educators are becoming aware that instruction needs to be differentiated depending on the needs of the student. A ‘one-size fits all’ educational approach doesn’t work for everyone. A growing number of students across North America are finding that learning on their computer, at their own pace, and in a home environment is allowing them to achieve both academic and personal goals.

If I choose online learning, will my child suffer socially?

Many parents worry that learning at home will mean that their child misses out on the “social” opportunities offered at ‘brick and mortar’ schools. Students who choose online learning do not necessarily become isolated. Our program will offer students opportunities to become engaged in social learning activities, face-to-face and online, supervised by our teachers. In addition, we can assist students to become involved in many opportunities for social and recreational activities in the community.

Computer Equipment…what do I need?

Students are required to have access to an internet-connected computer system (broadband access is recommended.) Under certain conditions, CEAP can help students to obtain access or equipment..

What if my child has Special Needs?

Our teachers will work together with our Student Support Services staff to provide support and services as are required in the Individualize Education Plan for each designated student.
