The following key elements define our policy for our programs:
Grades K - 9 Programs
1. Our K to 9 programs may require some online activity, so families must have access to an Internet-connected computer at home, in order to be successful. Face-to-face attendance, although not required, will vastly enrich the learning. All CEAP program teachers provide scheduled times when they are available to provide direct support to students and to confer with parents. Periodically, our teachers will need to conduct portfolio and prgram reviews with each student and a family representative.
2. Families must maintain electronic communication with teachers, either through email, text messaging or telephone. Accurate communication information must be supplied at the time of registration, or whenever it changes. A lack of response to teacher-initiated communication is grounds for academic probation and/or withdrawal.
3. Your PROGRAM ACTIVATION ASSIGNMENT (Indicated by the program teacher) must be completed and returned to CEAP within two weeks of registration. Failure to do this will place the student onto academic probation. You would need to re-apply.
4. Once active in a program, the student is expected to remain active and make continuous progress. This means that
- Learning activities are completed and returned to the teacher on a regular basis.
- Teacher-initiated communication is replied to.
- Attendance or involvement in learning-supporting activities, sponsored by CEAP or elsewhere are engaged in on a reguilar basis.
If inactive for an extended period (more than three weeks), the teacher will be attempting to contact the family, and the student may be placed on academic probation, with the risk of being withdrawn from the program, if activity does not resume. Students withdrawn from our program for inactivity would need to re-apply, in order to resume activity at CEAP. Under certain circumstances, allowances for inactivity in our prorgram may be granted for special reasons (illness, accident or family hardship).
Secondary and Adult Learners
1. CEAP courses will require completion through online activity. Students must have access to an Internet-connected computer at home, in order to be successful. Some courses may require face-to-face attendance, as indicated in the course descriptions. All CEAP teachers provide scheduled times when they are available to provide direct support to students, over the internet or at the CEAP Learning Center.
2. Students must maintain electronic communication with teachers, either through email, text messaging or telephone. Accurate communication information must be supplied at the time of registration, or whenever it changes. A lack of response to teacher-initiated communication is grounds for academic probation and/or withdrawal.
4. Once active in a course, as student is expected to complete at least 10% of the course per week, until completion, usually within 12 weeks. Students can elect, at the time of enrolment, to complete a course over an entire school year. If inactive for more than two weeks, a student will be notified and placed on academic probation, with the risk of being withdrawn from the course if activity does not resume promptly. Students withdrawn from courses for inactivity must wait one year before they can retake the same course from CEAP. Extensions must be applied for, and are granted ONLY for special reasons (illness, accident or hardship).
