A Message to Elementary Parents

Hello parents. Thank you again for your patience and support as we navigate COVID times. We hope this finds you well.

As you will have heard, part of the government's BC Restart Plan is to have schools reopened in a limited way on June 1st for parents who choose to have their children attend on a part-time basis. How we organize for that return will depend in part on how many children are returning. We do not know yet whether that return would be to the usual classroom and teacher or if we would put cohorts of children together with other teachers and EAs. Also, although we remain fully committed to remote supports for learning, we may have to adjust those home supports based on the face-to-face work that teachers will be doing on site.

To allow us to create the plan for student returns we are requesting that you complete this brief survey to tell us whether you intend to have your child return in June or not. Please know that, if you choose to have your child return in June, we will be using all cleaning and distancing protocols that are required based on the ages of the children. Safety of students and staff continues to be our top priority and the basis for all of our decisions. We are committed to having clear protocols that ensure we are following public health and WorkSafe BC guidelines around access to learning spaces, safe distancing, cleaning and disinfecting.

We are awaiting guidelines from government in regard to what transportation options might be made available for students. Clearly those options will be limited based on cleaning and distancing protocols. We will have more to share in the coming days.
