Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation: Electronic Distribution of Newsletters and Information

September 30, 2014

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation requires prior express consent to send an electronic message that contains, or may contain, commercial content; for example, in the School District's case, it may be information from schools about RDN programs, or other programs or activities available for families.   The Legislation also imposes certain form requirements with respect to those messages, including providing in the message information identifying the sender and a mechanism to opt-out from the receipt of future messages.

In order to receive School Newsletters and information from schools electronically, you must provide consent to schools on an annual basis.  To do so, please go your child's School Home Page and look for "Sign up for our newsletter and keep in touch".  Enter your email address and click "Go".  You will receive an email requesting that you confirm your subscription.  In order to finalize your subscription (specific to that school), please follow the prompts provided in this email.

To receive District Level messages electronically, please go to the District Home Page (www.sd69.bc.ca) and follow the same steps as noted above.
