Reading Link Challenge is an exciting, team-based reading competition for students in grades 4–5, designed to promote a love of reading and teamwork. The Ministry of Education, Libraries and Literacy Branch promotes Reading Link Challenge as an excellent school and public library partnership program. This challenge encourages students to dive into a curated list of Canadian and international books, then compete in trivia-style battles based on what they've read. It's a great way to build comprehension skills, foster collaboration, and connect classroom learning with library resources.
How it works:
- In early fall public library staff make contact with schools to promote the program
- Interested students form teams of six – teachers register teams with library in mid October
- Libraries order book sets based on the number of registered teams (schools must have a minimum of two teams to participate, though four to six teams is ideal).
- Book titles are announced on November 1!

Idéllo is a resource that you can access from your district "My Site" account. It contains videos, activities, lessons, digital books within many curricular subject areas. Teachers can create a class within the site. Once a class is created, students and parents can access from home. There are options to include French subtitles and transcripts for the videos and it is suitable for all grades for Core French and French Immersion.
Live It Earth is a resource that you can access from your district "My Site" account. It is a hybrid learning library that creates engaging content for students, so teachers can empower learning.
