WE Day  There will be an important meeting for all WE Day attendees in Room 905 on Tuesday (TODAY) at lunch. Please come pick up your permission forms for next week's trip!

 

Model UN  Regular meeting this Thursday at lunch in 905. Come on down and register for the Vancouver Conference - PacificMUN.org, or just learn more about the club!

 

Congratulations to the Senior Football team for their big win in Provincial playoffs Friday 21 to 14 over Langley.     Demar Hohnstein led the way with two touchdowns and Nathan Robinson caught the other touchdown from Ben Chomolok.    Kolby Jack and Adrien Friesen were leaders on defense with Zac Mosher and Ty Barker leading the line

QUARTERFINAL PROVINCIAL PLAYOFFS THIS WEEK!     Juniors at GW Graham (Chilliwack) 315 Wednesday and Seniors at Vernon Friday 7pm

 

Food Safe – reminder to students the class begins this evening at KSS at 6:00 pm, Room 113.

 

Any grade 11 or 12 students who want extra support with figuring out what to do after high school and getting a jump start on their Grad transition planning-drop by Room 901 Tuesdays at lunch. Ms Confortin will be there to guide you through Xello and questions you may have regarding courses and post secondary options.

 

Music Students: Congratulations to our Band 10, Senior Concert Band, and Concert Choir students for a job well done at last week's Remembrance Day assembly. You all did a fantastic job, and the music was wonderful! Thank you to Angela Dong for playing the piano for the choir, and thank you to Jordan Wort for playing the Last Post on the trumpet.

 

Music Students' Trip to UVic: All forms and payments for the trip to UVic to see the Wind Symphony needs to be in to Mr. Kellas by Thursday, November 15th. That's two days from now! Please have your forms in by lunch time on Thursday.

 

Drop in Volleyball - Drop in volleyball is now happening on Friday mornings starting at 7:30! Anyone wanting to get some morning exercise and build on their volleyball skill should come check it out! 

 

Junior girls basketball has one more tryout Tuesday Nov 13th at 5pm.

 

UBC/SFU Field trip November 28th- Grade 11 & 12 students, travel to UBC & SFU, tour campuses and attend advisor information sessions. Cost $20, leave BSS at 5:15 am and return at 9:00 pm. Permission slips are available in the counselling office, first 33 students who submit their permission slips with $20 will go. For more information see Mr. Meredith in the counselling office.

Rotary Youth International Short Term Exchange is looking for students interested in travel & experiencing a new place or culture.  Come to the Career Centre to learn more about these

 

Scent Considerate School: Just a gentle reminder that students, employees and visitors are to be considerate of their use of scented products when attending school district facilities and events.

 

Model UN: There will be NO MUN meeting this week, however, those interested in attending a weekend conference in Vancouver (Feb 22nd-24th) can check out pacificmun.com, and register for committees through their website, or apply for financial aid! Next meeting is Thursday, November 15th in 905!

 

Fire Camp 2019  Fight real fire, Challenge Yourself/Learn New Skills  March 17th – 23rd come to the Career Centre for more information.

 

Interested in Construction, come meet with VIU Construction Instructors Block "C" Tuesday in Mr Ayers room.

 

Interested in Natural Resource Management, come to the Career Centre to meet with a Natural Resource Management officer in the Career Centre.  Thursday Nov 8th @ 10:00 am in room 604.    More information in the Career Centre.

 

Grade 12s going to University next year are now able to start their 1st year program next semester, tuition free.   Vancouver Island University will be offering ENG 115 & Writing for Success beginning the start of 2nd semester @ their Parksville Campus.  These 2 course will also provide you with 8 grade 12 elective credits.   See Mr. Ouellet in the Career Centre for registration. 

 

COATS for KIDS- Ballenas Interact Club is helping to keep children warm this winter by collecting used coats for those in need. If you or a family member has a used coat that is no longer in use, please deposit it into the cardboard collecting box in the front foyer!

 

BALLENAS AND GRAD STICKERS – will be sold every day at lunch in the main foyer.  $2, $3 & $4 each.  Come out and check them out.

 

Bagel café - The bagel cafe is open every morning in room 803 from 8am till 8:40am.  Come in for a bagel or oatmeal, a piece of fruit and some juice! By donation!
