Individual or groups are welcome to request to make presentations to the Board of Education as per Board Bylaw 3, Section IV (Meetings of the Board of Education - Delegations). Delegations wishing to appear before the Board must submit a request in writing - including the brief to be presented - to the Secretary Treasurer's office by 9:00 a.m. on the Monday of the week prior to the public meeting at which they wish to present. The Secretary Treasurer will advise the Board of the request. Presentations are given 10 minutes unless otherwise approved by the Board Chair, and no more than 20 minutes will be allocated for all public presentations at a public board meeting. The Board Chair will rule whether the delegation will be heard. Applicants will be notified by the Tuesday of the week prior to the meeting whether or not their presentation has been accepted. The presentation might also be redirected to a Committee of the Whole Meeting if deemed to be more relevant at that table (Education COW, Policy COW or Finance & Operations COW).
Two opportunities are provided for the public to ask questions related to Public Board Meeting agenda items: the first near the beginning of the meeting and the second at the end of the meeting. Questions can be submitted ahead of time to the Secretary Treasurer's office via email (khergt@sd69.bc.ca) or can be written in the meeting's Chat during the meeting.
In the new calendar year, the Board of Education and Senior Staff will be holding one or more Public Budget Information Meetings to share information about the budget process and preliminary indications of anticipated fiscal challenges. Participants will be invited to provide the Board with ideas about priorities for district budget planning.
