Elementary Programs of Choice

Please Note:  Students MUST be registered at their catchment school prior to applying to a program of choice.

Primary Learning Community Program:  The PLC will meet the provincial curriculum while engaging in play-based learning, where concepts and subject areas will be embedded in themes, projects and activities stretching across the curriculum.  Learning will be facilitated through multi-age groupings which embed Indigenous knowledge and ways of being.  An application form is available below.   Please note - the program is located at Oceanside Elementary School.  The application process for the 2026-2027 school year will open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19 for a two-week period ending at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026​.  Students not offered a space in the Primary Learning Community Program will be placed on a waitlist and remain registered at their catchment-area school.​

Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering and Math β€‹(STREAM) Intermediate Program:  Grades 4 – 7.  The STREAM program is a comprehensive academic program that engages your child through the use of science and technology and encourages personalized learning and critical thinking across the entire curriculum.  By engaging your child's inherent passion for learning, the STREAM program encourages learning in a way that develops creative thought, independence, and critical thinking.  Our STREAM Makerspace provides an environment rich with possibilities, and the opportunity to connect and work on personally meaningful projectsPlease note - the program is located at Qualicum Beach Elementary School.  The application process for the 2026-2027 school year will open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19 for a two-week period ending at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026.  Students not offered a space will be placed on a waitlist and remain registered at their catchment-area school.​


French Immersion:  Grades K – 7.  French Immersion is intended to develop fluency in French learning to functional bilingualism.  Students study in French while following the regular BC Curriculum Learning Standards.  Please note:  The French Immersion Program for Grades K – 7 is located at Γ‰cole Oceanside Elementary School.  

SIBLING ONLY Applications closed on January 16th at 4:00 p.m.  Parents who are notified that a sibling Kindergarten student is confirmed to attend the Kindergarten French Immersion Program can then register their child at Γ‰cole Oceanside Elementary School through the Online Kindergarten Registration link.  Late application forms will be included in the non-sibling lottery.

All other Online Kindergarten French Immersion Applications will open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19 for a two-week period ending at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026​​.   Selection will be via lottery.

NOTE: All non-sibling Kindergarten students wishing to apply for the Kindergarten French Immersion Program ​MUST FIRST register on-line to their catchment area school and include a note to indicate that they plan to apply for the K-FI program.   Then complete the on-line Kindergarten French Immersion Application Form.  Students not offered a space in the Kindergarten French Immersion program will be placed on a waitlist and remain registered at their catchment-area school. β€‹
